New Years Eve 2010

Gail caught a cold about two days before New Years Eve.  We were not sure what we were going to do since we did not know how she was going to be feeling.  The folks here at Caribe Island scheduled a get together for drinks and snacks in the palapa.
The hit of the evening was this guy who is staying next door who has a vineyard n Germany.  He has been trying to import 900 bottles of wine from Germany to San Pedro for the last several weeks.  It takes a long time and the customs and import charges and taxes are extremely high.  He finally made it and he brought four different kinds of wine for us all to sample.
He brought glasses for just about everyone and each of us tasted the four wines and tried to decide which we liked best.   Some of us got confused before we got to taste all four and had to start over.   There were also a lot of snacks.
Everyone had a great time.
After the wine tasting, Gail was feeling good enough to go out for dinner.  We rode our bikes to a restaurant called the Blue Iguana.
I had jerk pork chops and Gail had lobster cakes.
We decided to go home after dinner since Gail was not feeling very good.  We had to unchain our bikes before we could start our trip.  (You are told to always lock your bikes to something when you leave them since they are prone to come up missing if you don’t.  This is true not just on New Years Eve but even if you just go into a grocery store.  We have never had any kind of a problem though.)

The next day everything was back to normal—people at the pool and parades and football games on the TV.
That night we had pizza (which, by the way, is some of the best I have ever had) and a little more wine, and went to bed early.  Gail is feeling much, much better today.
