There are many, many painters on the island. The local painters tend to reflect their African heritage. Their paintings do not include a lot of detail and they use many bright colors.
There is also a tendency to reflect the total Caribbean feel. Jamaica seems to have a major influence on the people and the art.
Much of the art reflects the island life with fishing, festivals, and music. Much of it is abstract.
You will not find paintings of fields of flowers, or forests, or farms. There are no skyscrapers or city sky lines; no Tuscan wineries or tables set with cheese and grapes. The art reflects the life here, the people here, and their heritage.
And it is good.
