A Pictorial Boat Ride

Today I would like to take you on a pictorial boat ride from our condo complex to town and on to the north end of the island.
(I would encourage you to click on these pictures and enlarge them to get a better idea of the beauty of the water and shoreline.)
We started about 9:00 o’clock in the morning and headed north.  From our place to town there are not a lot of large complexes.

But as you approach town you begin to see the beautiful colors of the buildings and notice there are more and more boats.

Sailboats are extremely popular.

San Pedro does not have any high rise buildings.  The buildings are restricted to four stories.  The beauty of the town lies in the colors and the wonderfully simplistic architecture.

As we go north beyond the town you begin to see the newer development of condos.

In addition to the modern condos, there are a number of more quaint and rustic places to stay.

On one side of the boat you have the shore and on the other side, the reef.   The waves break on the reef which keeps the waters calm on the island side of the reef.  The water at the reef is shallow enough that you can stand in many places.  It makes for great snorkeling.

Finally, if you go north far enough, you reach a place called Rocky Point where the reef actually meets the island.

That’s when you know it is time to turn around and head home.  We have covered about ten miles of the length of the island which is only fifteen miles long in total.
We got home about sunset.  As we walked up to our condo it was raining out over the ocean and there was a beautiful rainbow.

A good way to end a beautiful day.
