Trip To Town

This afternoon Gail was feeling much better and we rode our bicycles into town to go to the bank.  We started in plenty of time but really messed around getting there.  We arrived at about five minutes after three and they closed at three.  However, the guy who took care of us the other day saw us on the street and went back and opened the bank and got the Debit card I had lost at the airport on the way here.  How great was that???
One of the main reasons for going to own was that we were to meet some people for the first time and have a drink with them.  Our only contact with them up to this point had been via email.  But now, since we couldn't get into the bank, we had some extra time and my daughter Shelly asked for pictures of the town.  So here are a few we took on our way to meet Roger and Susan:
There are three streets in San Pedro--Front, Middle, and Back.  The names are based on their proximity to the ocean.  I am sure they have other names but nobody uses them.

This is a WalMart Super Store just on a smaller scale.

We have found a dentist, stomach doctor, and gynocologist so far.

I think this is Back Street--I still get the pictures confused.  It is the only one that allows two way traffic--Front and Middle are One Way.  On Back Street they are opening a German Butcher shop tomorrow that will have, among other things, lobster bratwurst.

This is Shelly's Restaurant.  Maybe we'll eat there today to celebrate my daughter Shelly's 44th birthday.  Happy Birthday Shelly.

Finally we headed to “Crazy Canucks” to meet our new friends for a drink.

We really enjoyed these folks who relocated here nine years ago from Houston.  We hope to run into them again soon-especially since Susan thinks I look like Carey Grant!!!
On our way home we saw these kids playing soccer in the sand.  Can you imagine how hard that would be?

Finally we stopped at Joes for a bite to eat.  I got fish and chips and Gail got a fish sandwich.  If we would have ordered that in Arkansas we would have been eating catfish.  Here, it is Snapper-great!  (Just as a reference, the two meals with a beer and bottle of water was $30 Belize—that’s $15 US, and they provided free bug spray, applied at your table.)
I learned a couple things on our excursion:
1) Don’t be afraid to bicycle at night.  Everybody does it.  The most difficult thing is not trying to see each other but seeing the ruts in the road.
2)At dusk the fragrance of choice is “Ode de Backwoods Off”.
