We did not get to go to church this morning because Gail is still not feeling good. She did not want to go and be labeled as the sick lady who coughs. Hopefully, we can go next Sunday.
However, we did have an interesting day.
I got on my bicycle this morning and went the 2.5 miles to town to get Gail some cough medicine. While there I got a basket installed on my bicycle—what a great investment!!! When I got home we went for a walk on the beach. As we walked along I saw something orange out in the water. This is in sea grass but I could still see the different color. I walked out to get it and it was a beautiful star fish.
We were told later we had to put it back because there is a law protecting them. No problem--at least we got the picture.
When we got home and were relaxing on the beach, a boat came in on the dock next door. Three guys had been out fishing. They had a big cooler full of snapper, lobster, and conch. We went over and watched them clean their catch.
Cleaning Lobster.
Cleaning Conch for ceviche. (By the way--the lady in the picture is our neighbor, Dee, who just bought a condo next door. She is from Canada and does accounting work for several companies remotley.)They just throw these shells in the water. They are really pretty.
Cooler full of snapper.
We bought snapper for $5 a pound—that got us four really nice sized fish for $20 US. I think we could have talked them into another one but it wasn’t worth it—these look really good. Now the problem is we do not have a good skillet so we decided to cook them on the barbecue grill. However, we had no charcoal, no tin foil, no lighter fluid, and no matches. There are two little corner groceries here but both were out of charcoal.
Once again, I get on my bicycle for the 2.5 mile trek to town. I got everything we need—thank goodness for that basket!
Now for fresh snapper and the thrill of the grill.
