Gail tapped me on the shoulder at 3:00 am to wake me up. Our flight leaves at 6:30 and we have lots of last minute things to do. I got up, jumped in the shower, shaved, took all of my vitamins and headed for the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. Gail tells me on the way that she is throwing the breaker on the hot water heater. I put my coffee in the microwave and go find a flashlight. I head for the truck to gt my pliers so I can go out to the street and turn off the water to the house. I get it turned off easily and then go the basement to drain the water heater. I already have the hose connected so all I have to do is turn on the faucet—I thought. However, when I opened the faucet nothing happened. I guess it is going to set there for six months full of water—no big deal I guess.
We finish packing the last minute items and wait for our ride to the airport. He is supposed to be here at 4:00. At 4:15 we call Shelly and Alan and ask if Alan can take us to the airport in our truck. Can you believe it—phase one of our trip is a total bust! However, with Alan’s help we get to the airport by 5:00.
We fill up one cart with all of our luggage and a guy helps us push it into the checkout lane. This is really easy—all you do it swipe your passport, answer a few questions and the machine takes care of everything else. Plenty of time for breakfast—bagel and cream cheese.
The flight to Houston took an hour and a half so we arrive at 8:30. Our flight to Belize leaves at 1:30. Waaaaay too much time. Hopefully, getting through customs in Belize and off to the island will go smoothly. I’ll let you know later.
