McDonalds Quarter Pounder

I had a McDonald’s quarter pounder with cheese, fries, and a diet Coke for lunch today!
We took a trip to Chetumal, Mexico and found a McDonalds in a mall there.  The trip started with eight of us taking a taxi to the boat dock at 7:30 this morning.  Of course, since we were leaving Belize and going to Mexico, we had to go through customs and immigration.  We had to pay $7.50 Belize each to leave the country.
The boat was enclosed and very nice.
It had TVs on the inside and we watched a movie both going and coming back.

And was very fast.  It had three 250 horse power motors on it.
When we got to Chetumal, Mexico, everyone had to put their bags on the dock and the police came with a dog.  He sniffed all of the bags—we all passed the sniff test.
They had Christmas decorations everywhere but the ornaments were a little different than we are used to seeing.  There were sea horses, turtles, fish, crabs, and sea shells.
The first place we went to shop was a store much like a Wal-Mart in that it had a little bit of everything.  We checked out the pork chops in the meat department.
We found some pretty large bags of sugar.
The exchange rate in Mexico today was approximately 13 pesos per US dollar.  So the price of these bags of sugar marked $29.90 pesos is $2.44 US.  And, by the way, the bags of sugar were “Great Value”, the Wal-Mart brand.
There was a very large bakery section.

Many of the selections were displayed out in the open without any kind of wrapping.  I am sure this would not pass inspection in the US.
There was also a lot of milk in a box.  It is amazing to me how good this milk really is after you once get it cold.
After we finished at this store we made our way to the Mall of the Americas.  This mall was exactly as you would expect to see in the US except, of course, that everything was in Spanish and pesos.  This is where I got the quarter pounder.
Finally, while shopping today we bought two liters of wine having been told this was how much we could bring back to Belize duty free.  However, when we came through customs here at San Pedro, the customs agent told us we are not allowed to bring alcohol into Belize from a neighboring country.  She was very nice though—instead of confiscating it she charged us $20 Belize duty to bring it into the country.  The guy ahead of us had two bottles of wine and she charged him $30 Belize.  Go figure.
I am having a glass of wine before going to bed tonight-woo, hoo.
